This is how you Escape Your Leashed Life
Step 1: Lay around looking sad.
Step 2: Cry/howl if you have to
(Thanks Dex, but we already have that visual covered)
Step 3: Convince the Food Lady that you should go swimming
Agh! Mooooom! She’s shaking on me again!
Step 4: Roll around in the grass, since you’re a poor farm dog, and don’t have a towel
Step 5: Shake off the grass, dirt and slugs
Step 6: Shake right out of the leash, and you’re home free!
Hey! Put that leash back on right now!! The Food Lady said so! Do as you’re told!
Yeah, umm, TWoo? It’s not like you listen to me either.
Yeah but you looooove me. *suckupsucksupsuckup*
I lost my temper with TWooie today. The GPS works very well, but it doesn’t actually physically STOP him from running away and after an hour plus out in the back fields, I was ready to go home. TWoo was not, so he gave me the slip. I spent half an hour tracking him through the swamp and when he finally came out the other end I was tired, wet and *pissed*. I dragged him back to the house with Tweed’s leash, cussed him out, tied him to the porch and left him outside.
It was totally uncalled for. I know he’s going to run when it’s time to go back home, so it’s my own fault for not leashing him up before he did.
That’s my girl. Next weekend she is running her first Masters Level trial! It’s very exciting.
But I miss running Tweed. On Tuesday, we’re going for x-rays to see if we can’t figure out what’s wrong with his leg.
I could be your agility partner! See!?!
Except I choose to ignore you.
Hey Woo, let’s blow this pop-stand.
It’s more fun on the other side of the river, where the Food Lady can’t catch us.
Ahhh, this is fantastic.
All I have to do, is be only half as bad as TWoo and suddenly, I’m Good Dog Woo!
How do I get in on this Bad Boy action?
Pssst … Tweed … for 10 cookies I’ll distract her so you can slip the leash and pull a runner …
Half the time, Dexter looks like a superhero to me (you know, with the black mask, sort of Zorro like? No?), but the last picture cracks me up because he does look like he is plotting something completely nefarious! Love the pictures of Piper and good luck to her at the trials.
Good luck to you and Piper!
Piper’s pics are so cute!!! Love the way you did them. Piper, all paws crossed here for the trials.
Oh TWoo, you aren’t helping your “I want to live here” case. Wootie, you need to have a heart to heart with your buddy about making the FL hunt for you…..NOT a good thing, and you can’t join him and make a strong case.
Dexter & Tweed do look like they are plotting a get away of their own.
Hope the porch punishment is over and TWoo is back in good graces.
The Princess is Soooo Kee-yoot!!! *hearts* her. :)
The photos are really really pretty. Everyone just looks so happy on a beautiful day. Oh urmm.. maybe not the Food Lady…
Love the last photo of the pooches plotting a major overthrow!
Well, at least you didn’t beat Twooie until he was dead. Dogs have an ability to drive us crazy and piss us off so cut yourself some slack for getting pissed at Twooie. How did he handle it? Any chance he learned anything? He won’t equate getting tied to the porch with running off but he may cogitate about pissing off his person and think about trying to please her.
The last picture should be titled “Be afraid, be very afraid” – great shot!
Oh, hai, Piper! You are an excellent and beautiful dog, indeed.
Food Lady, best of luck at the Masters trials, and good luck on the leg diagnosis with Tweed. And I hope the WooTWoo start behaving before they run you ragged.
That first picture of Piper is awesome and scary at the same time because she has the Red Eyes of Death (which go along with her MadTeeth(tm)).
Good luck to both of you at the Masters trials!
Wootie is looking pretty svelte these days. Is he losing weight, or is it just that the addition of Twooie has altered my perception?
Love this entry!
How about putting that first picture of Piper onto a shirt in your store? It’s totally awesome!
Deter has this wolfish lok to him, must me the legs. :-)
O.K., you probably have this covered but.. How often do you do wonderous
food-rewarded recalls when you are out on a walk? You know with the yummy stuff all little porky puppies love the best. With my son, yeah I know not a dog, I practiced calling him over to me at the McDonald’s play-land many times during each visit with him getting food, attention, etc. each time. It made it MUCH easier to leave when we needed to.
Oh yes, it also helps if you can make the time to go back home, hand out love, food and wonderfulness and then turn around for more happy dog time out doors.
You should sell copies of that picture of Woo gazing out across the marsh – so pretty!
This site is one of my absolute favorites! I love your dogs and your photos and the way you capture their personalities. Looks like a fun day (other than the Twoo chasing…)
