My bent-eared girly is at the vet’s, and I’m sick with worry. They believe she’s been poisoned. I came home from a half hour trip of running errands to find her trembling violently, unable to walk or coordinate her legs and salivating copiously; she was absolutely soaked with drool and there were puddles of it everywhere. I rushed her to the vet straight away, but I’m absolutely distraught.
I don’t know how much good it will do, but I figure it couldn’t hurt if you could all put it out there into the universe that my wee doggie has *got* to be okay. So I’m asking.
Please keep her in your thoughts. I’d be lost without her.

Do you know about salmon sickness? I had never heard of it until I moved to the pacific northwest a couple years ago. Apparently, the salmon here carry a parasite that’s serious bad news for dogs. I noticed that in your last post you mentioned swimming in the salmon stream. Any chance that Piper took a little nibble of some spawning salmon carcass? If there’s a chance, you should make sure you mention it to the vet.
Here’s some info on salmon sickness: http://www.vetmed.wsu.edu/cliented/salmon.aspx

Does she free range at all? If you live near any farms, and they’ve euthanized an animal but the packers haven’t taken it away yet, dogs can get extremely ‘drunk’ if they scavange and ingest any of the euthanol. Can kill them, so it is definitely important to ensure dog does not leave your property. Good luck with Piper. I’m certain she’ll rally for you.
