Dog-A-Day November

November 1, 2012 By The Food Lady 3 Comments

I’m trying very hard to keep updating the blog but it’s proving a bit difficult these days between working all the time and it getting dark early and stuff.  So I am going to take advantage of my home in the blogosphere to punt some of my shelter dogs around in between sporadic posts.  Please feel free to share with anyone you think might be interested!

November 1st’s dog is Jersey.

Jersey:

  • Age: 5.5 months
  • Gender: male(neutered)
  • Breed: Border Collie X Pitbull
  • Likes: Pantlegs and feet!  Ferocious sounding games of tug.  Pouncing on stuffie toys in fits of gleeful abandon. Wiggling.  Sitting for cookies. Eating.  Clicker training!
  • Ideal home:  With adults or older children only since he is a mouthy guy with a strong mouth; active folks who like keeping a dog busy with fun and interesting things!  A blank slate, Jersey is a sponge waiting to soak up whatever you have to teach him.  He’s a perfect age to start obedience or agility foundation classes.  He’s got the energy of a border collie and the wiggly happiness of a pitbull – a wonderful combination for anyone who wants to go on a marathon hike with their dog, and then snuggle up with him on the sofa.
  • Available at: The Surrey Animal Resource Center in Surrey, BC, Canada.  Email us at adoptions@surrey.ca for more information!

I can’t imagine a dog more perfectly designed for me. Pitbull x border collie? *swoon* Alas, I have too many canines in my pack and I live 3000+ miles away, so I don’t think it’s going to work out. I hope he finds a terrific home soon!

I’m going to want to adopt every.single.one, even though I can’t get another. But I will pass this one on to a friend who recently had her old BC put down, has a female pit, and is looking for a second dog. How hard is it to get a dog from there to central Oregon?

I think it’s perfectly fine that you let your job bleed into this blog. At least until agility season starts again. Or the daylight comes back. I have four people looking for dogs… all have different requirements. In fact Jersey’s info was already sent to one family here.
