Why Life Sucks

May 26, 2010 By The Food Lady 29 Comments

So it wasn’t my imagination – Tweed’s limp after running is not normal procedure for recovering from the sesamoid issue :(

We went back to the vet today and Tweed has a mystery infection on that foot.  It’s hot, and swollen.  He should not be limping at all anymore.

Why have the agility Regional gods forsaken me?

He is now on antibiotics and anti-inflammatories.  We have a deadline of about 10 days – he can go to class next Thursday, and if the limp is gone and he runs fine, we’re golden.  If he comes up lame, we need to scratch from the competition.

*sigh*  Why? WHY??

Me thinks the agility gods may be aligning themselves with the house of Piper. Poor Tweed, it just isn’t fair. :(

By the way, I just wanted to share that while out of town I sent my dog sitter a text to see how the pooches were doing. She responded “They’re great, we’ve been playing a lot of Dumball.” You (the FL) are officially apart of Arizona dog speak.

Poor Tweed and FL. Hang in there guys and if it’s meant to be, it will definitely happen for you. You always have Piper, right? Maybe this year is meant to be her year. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Mr. Tweed.

Aw, Tweed! Ya just can’t get a break, can you?
Maybe it is Piper’s year for Regionals…

Poor Tweed and poor FL. The new infection sucks but I gather that the sesamoid issue is resolved? Yes? That is good news and, if the infection heals in time, the long layoff may actually be good. My agility instructor is a big believer that breaks from agility really help and she has made a believer of me. Of course, Tweed has not been getting exercise and it sucks that he won’t be getting exercise for the next week. As others have said, there is always Piper and this may be her year. Tweed won’t care as long as he gets better and gets to run. Hang in there, FL.

I suppose this wouldn’t be the appropriate time to suggest that the WooTWOO (one & the same dog) must be in fine shape from all that rabbit-chasing in the tall grass? And ignoring their recall by running halfway to Mexico? No. I didn’t think so. I guess they’re probably not Regionals material.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Tweed’s toe. And Ms. Piper!

P.S. No, you never mentioned Karl. *ahem* Photos??

Poor Tweed. Here we need to watch for not only the burrs that can get inside the paw pads and be unseen but the seed from a certain type of grass that can do the same and the grass is harder to find and get out before causing an infection.
Hope he is much better soon.

rest, Tweed, rest….and don’t do too much too soon! i worry that if he pushes it now he may have another injury due to being a bit out of shape, etc…. I know with people the older you are the longer it takes to rebound from injury and infection, no matter how hard you try. I expect it is the same for dogs, too. Would hate to see Tweed have another setback if this infection doesnt clear right up quick!
Hard to know what to do…..listen to your wise heart.

Wow, that really is terrible for both of you. I agree with everyone’s sentiments – poor Tweed! Hm…maybe getting all of these pesky leg and paw problems toppled on now will pile up the doggie karma so that he never has to deal with another health problem again for the rest of his days! xD

Here’s to a speedy and /full/ recovery, and to WooTwoo becoming svelte and trim due to running all over the place. …well, maybe the last one is a bit of a reach. ;3

    Best wishes to you all.

Tweed’s long term recovery is the priority. It would be awful if he got hurt running some agility competition and ended up with more crate confinement, or worse, he became permanently lame. The gods have not abandoned him; they are preventing him from further injury and pain.
