Court Jester Woo wants to be King of the Castle.
Poor Wootie. The floppy blue collar is not just a lovely accent to bring out the blue in his eye. Those of you on Facebook know that earlier this week I found a giant hole behind his shoulder and he had to see the vet to get stitched up with a drain tube and everything. He looks like Frankendog now :(
I cannot prove it, but suspect it was Springaling in one of her crazed terrier play sessions where she forgets she has big sharp teeth. I didn’t see it happen, and there was just the one hole, so it’s equally possible he caught himself on something and tore himself open too.
Besides feeling badly for him every time I look at his left side, I feel badly for everyone else too because we are now all on limited exercise. Wootie doesn’t handle being left behind very well, so he comes for slow leash walks with us. Except nobody else wants to go for slow leash walks, they want to RUN! and PLAY! and FETCH!
Dexter is getting so desperate to play he has brought me nearly everything he can find on the property as a possible toy.
It’s also been insanely hot outside, so in the end we reached a compromise, where I would sit on the ground and snuggle Woo while throwing the ball for a short period until The Crazies we satisfied and then we’d go for a slow walk and then everyone was happy. Well, everyone except Woo that is… but you can’t please everyone.
Wootie’s injury upset my plans to take everyone to the beach this Friday, since he couldn’t go and I couldn’t leave him at home alone. So instead I drove out to Chilliwack to pick up my newest Animal Control chicken. She’s quite pretty, and also really easy going and she falls asleep in the crook of your arm if you pick her up. She’s not having the easiest time integrating in my flock of asshole hens though.
I had really hoped to introduce Gale (now Ghillie) to the beach, before she left for her new home, but it never happened. She got adopted last night. Yay!
So the week hasn’t been all bad (unless, of course, you are Wootie). Especially since today I got to ride Magnum AKA The Big Comfy Couch.
Ever since Gibson’s owner sold him I have been very lonely for a pony, but I didn’t find another horse to lease that I liked and/or could afford. All this beautiful weather and no horse to ride. Then The Sadist asked me if I would like to ride Magnum, so that he doesn’t just “stand around eating and shitting.” Don’t have to ask me twice!
I think most horse people would find Magnum very easy, but he’s more horse than Gibby was for me. I bribed his friendship with an apple, which only worked until he figured out I didn’t have another one. He tried to chuck me off when I wouldn’t let him stop at one gate, and then he give the other gate a mighty kick when I wouldn’t let him stop at that one either. All in all, he’s a very stubborn goat of a pony, so I like him a lot! And I didn’t fall off, despite his efforts, so I think we’re going to get along just fine :)
Hopefully Wootie will be all healed up soon (his drain comes out tomorrow) and we can go back to having some fun adventures to blog about. The past week has just been too busy and too damn hot to do much :)
Also, I have a couple of roosters looking for a home if any of my blog readers needs a good lookin’ roo? I have this Ameraucana:
And this Aruacana as well:
They are both such nice looking birds that I kinda don’t want to eat them, but I also can’t keep them as 4 roosters is 2 roosters too many. Any takers?

Wootie’s Flamboyance(tm) is looking mighty fine. You can trim just a little bit of it and make a wig to cover the clipped part on his shoulder!

His wound looks very similar to Sienna’s. I suspect he caught himself on something.
